The band played a couple shows in Athens and Atlanta in October '02. Their first Georgia shows in seven years! Linda, Ruthie, and Shannon played these shows along with Shannon's friend Brian Fletcher on drums. Details below:

October 19 - Echo Lounge, Atlanta
Opening this show is Shannon's other band, The HOTS, along with Silent Kids and Clobber. This is a benefit show to support the noncommercial operation of Album 88, WRAS, regarded as the number one college station in the country and an important part of Atlanta's music scene. And Magnapop fans might want to get there early. Besides getting a free Album 88 T-Shirt, the first 150 people through the door may be getting a special treat courtesy of Linda Hopper (hint you might have some entertainment for the ride home). Doors open at 8pm.

October 20 - 40 Watt, Athens
Opening this show is OH OK - a reunion of Linda Hopper and Lynda Stipes old band.

For those of you not fortunate enough to make it down here for the SXSW show back in March, well..., you really missed out. :) The band played on Friday March 15, 2002 at Momo's on 6th Street in Austin, TX. And then did an in-store performance at Tower Records on Guadalupe Saturday the 16th. The band consisted on Linda, Ruthie, Shannon, and Curtis on drums. And you'd never know they had taken the last several years off. They sounded incredible! The Momo's setlist included:

  • Garden
  • The Crush
  • Slowly, Slowly
  • Lay It Down
  • My Best Friend
  • Merry
  • Down On Me
  • Texas
  • Get It Right
  • Skin Burns
  • Open The Door
  • The setlist for the Tower show had Favorite Writer in place of Down On Me.

Pictures of the in-store show can be found here.

The tour in support of the band's most recent album Rubbing Doesn't Help ended in September of '96. In case you want to see the dates that the band played on that tour (so you can kick yourself for not catching them when they were in your neighborhood), I've saved all the dates here.

After the RDH tour, the band played some shows sporadically throughout California to try out some new tunes for a couple years.
