Magnapop - Sky Magazine
White Hot Band
January 1994
Their first demo was produced by REM's Michael Stipe, they've just come off a support tour with The Lemonheads, and Juliana Hatfield has even written a song about Ruth Morris, the band's guitarist. And still Magnapop aren't cocky. "Er, um, er, I'm just, like, flattered," says Morris about Hatfield's attention. "We had this really good meeting and we bonded right away on Camille PagliaŠ" As if this wasn't, er, thrilling enough, Bob Mould (that tortured soul behind Sugar and Husker Du) has finally brought Magnapop's fierce live sound to the studio where he has produced 'Hot Boxing', the Georgia foursome's soon-to-be-released 14-track blast of unrelenting guitar buzz-pop. "Bob's an amazing person," says Morris. "If he was just, like, a gardener I would still want to know him." Sure you would.
