Magnashock
March 19, 1994
Magnapop bassist Shannon Mulvaney narrowly escaped death during the band's March 8th show at the Leeds Duchess Of York.
Mulvaney received a 400-watt electric shock when his mouth touched a microphone during the band's first song - ironically titled "Get It Right". Mulvaney was briefly knocked out by the jolt, and had to be helped off the stage. Remarkably, however, he managed to rejoin the band within a few minutes to complete the set.
A spokeswoman for the band explained: "I think they brought him round with a stiff Jack Daniels! He was in a bit of a daze for the rest of the show, but he was a real hero. There was a huge cheer when he came back onstage. Then, after they'd finished, he fainted in the dressing room. I think the full implications of what had happened suddenly hit him. After all, people have died from that kind of thing."
